SAP system: Business made simply efficient

SAP system is a software, which is helping companies of all size to run better. It empowers people and organizations to work together more efficiently which eventually help them to stay ahead of the competition. Founded in 1972 by five IBM engineers, SAP is now the world’s largest business software company and the third biggest independent software provider (after Microsoft and Oracle) in terms of earning revenue. In addition, SAP operates a network of 115 subsidiaries and has R&D facilities around the globe including Germany, India, US, Canada, France, Brazil, Turkey, China, Hungary, Israel, Ireland and Bulgaria. SAP has managed to build up a client base of more than 12 million users. Its applications and services enable its users to operate profitably and grow sustainably. Many companies have realized that SAP solutions are extremely important to their businesses. Large companies, i.e. many fortune 500 companies, use SAP system extensively for running their internal day-to-day operations.

As of October 2013, 46 companies in Bangladesh have implemented SAP, which includes government organizations, i.e. Bangladesh Bank, multinational companies, i.e. British American Tobacco, Unilever, and local companies like Viyellatex, Rahimafrooz, Pedrolo NK Ltd., etc. Initially SAP was developed for large companies, but over the years it has evolved to be suitable for SMEs too. Surprisingly 80% of SAPs customers are SMEs. Companies operating in the RMG, Freight Forwarding and Retail sector are the three predominant users of SAP in Bangladesh. Currently there are 5000 factories operating in the Bangladeshi RMG sector, which competes with the countries like China, India, Pakistan and Vietnam with lesser productivity (30% less than China and 20% to 15% less compared to India and Pakistan). However, the productivity within the Bangladeshi RMG sector could be increased through efficient planning and SAP system could be an ideal vehicle for this purpose.

Retail and Freight-Forwarding are two of the industries that may benefit greatly through using SAP system. Recently Rahimafrooz Superstores Limited (RASL), a subsidiary of Rahimafrooz Group has implemented SAP software system to expand and streamline their business expenses. Currently there are over 1000 companies operating in the Bangladeshi Freight-Forwarding industry. This sector employs around 100,000 employees in approximately 2000 locations across the country. IBL, a subsidiary of MGH Group, has adopted SAP software across their Contract Logistics Business process.
It is true that SAP is a very complex system, so far it may relate to its implementation as the initial fixed and variable cost is a bit high. However, in order to implement SAP one would require getting in touch with a SAP service provider who would suggest the SAP modules appropriate for a client and based on the client’s business requirements. SS Solutions (PVT) Ltd. is the company, which offers the SAP system solution to the Bangladeshi customers. Bangladeshi business or company, that would like to implement SAP systems within their business, can now get the SAP system more conveniently from the SS Solutions and run its business more efficiently and at a cheaper cost and stay ahead of the competition.

In today’s business, efficiency is the key and having cutting edge solutions is the ultimate trend. It helps business compete at the international level, explore new market opportunities and offer the best to its target customers. SAP system could be solution business leaders can look up to.
