KOOV: THE COLORED CODING COURSE FOR KIDS

We are no longer in the prehistoric age where technologies have less significance. With time and changing environment, pristine improvements in the field of technologies are today’s call. Thereby, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) education has become integral at all levels. It does not even ostracize kids, nowadays.

In this contemporary world, children would rather pragmatically create innovative things than gobbling up books. Taking this current situation into account, Sony Electronics conjoint with Sony Global Education to instigate STEM education through an app called KOOV. The KOOV kit consists of different colour blocks with 23 different robot recipes and more.

The KOOV’s design enhances creativity, provokes critical thinking, motivates collaboration and develops communication skills to make these kids ready for this challenging world in upcoming days.

Working Mechanism: When a complete structure is built out of the blocks, one can add sensors and actuators so that the structure can move and function accordingly. The sensors and the actuators include easy codes implementation. This app allows the user to relax and excites them by engaging in the world of gaming with more challenges to face with the increase in the level. When the user does not understand they can revert. It ensures that the user fully understands the building of any structure from these colourful building blocks.

There are seven different types of seven colours. The graphical coding interface makes it convenient for kids to code robots by drag and drop method where a user need to just drag sets of instruction into the compiler to acquire the end result as a fully functional interactive moving blocks. The maker can share the robots with other KOOVers across the globe.

KOOV abides by Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA), a federal law that prevents personal details of children below 13 years to leak. The definite age for its user begins at 8. Although Sony perceives start-up age to be not less than 8 due to the understandability of the game with no external support (e.g. parents, guardians, elders), yet younger children can also use it.

KOOV is a comprehensive, 30+ hour educational course entirely emphasizing on codes, robotics and design. This global educator app for the kids is currently selling at $300. However, an official price is yet unknown.
