FEDOR: SAVIOR OR DESTROYER?

Space exploration and rescue mission often leads to life taking circumstances. But, now, no more. Introducing the Russian invent, FEDOR – Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research, an innovative design to manoeuvre efficiently for the successive demolition of menacing objects or species.

This design is predominantly for scavenge and rescue purposes, replacing humans in dangerous and jeopardizing territory. It requires intelligent robotic function which is not an easy task still doable. Thereby, there is a requirement for these robots to step ahead learning to work not only instructional but also decision-making activities like - navigation, blast bullets via dual pistols, perform army crawls, driving skills handling special tools, first aid and other actions to add in the bucket.

The emergence of the cognitive evolution enables FEDOR to accomplish its mission applying relevant techniques.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Head of the Military-Industrial Commission Dmitry Rogozin tweets “Robot FEDOR showed the ability to shoot from both hands. Fine motor skills and decision-making algorithms are still being improved.”

When a video of FEDOR earns speculation for its destructive skills, the Deputy speaks in support of FEDOR and advocates that the video is not showcasing aversion instead it is a simple demonstration of the bot’s dexterity and the utilized decision-making algorithms.

On Monday, November 20, Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, declares that FEDOR will pilot the Federatsiya spacecraft into orbit in 2021. Eventually, Roscosmos also plans to use the Federatsiya craft to carry astronauts to the moon and potentially one day to Mars.

According to project director Sergei Hurs, the Federatsiya can pilot training in 2020 and by 2024, it can also join the International Space Station. “This thing can work without a space suit, live not only in a crew vehicle but even outside it,” tells Rogozin.

This new robot's invented is to support human civilization to sustain. The creators hope that FEDOR will possess more human-like characteristics such as more flexible movement and locomotion so it is left open-ended. FEDOR is geared up for stepping into a new location, far beyond Earth, very soon.

Although it is uncertain about FEDOR's performance in the vacuum of space, we can just be hopeful.
