Stress, owing to its inherently subjective nature, is a very problematic issue to deal with. For those that who suffer from anxiety, nervousness, or even have trouble sleeping due to night terrors, there hasn’t really been a resource or aid to help with these conditions. Sure, it’s easy to suggest counseling session and prescribing meds, but none of these solutions have been seen to have measurable effects on stress and anxiety, with results highly varying from patient to patient.
TouchPoints™ Basic is the latest neuroscience wearable that claims to be able to help the wearer de-stress, sleep better and focus more using non-invasive, simulation-based technology.
Touchpoints Basics is basically a pair of wristbands to be worn on both hands or clipped onto clothing, that uses a technology called Bi-Lateral Alternating Stimulation Tactile (BLAST for short).
“TouchPoints™ use BLAST technology transferring alternating vibrations to alter the body’s Fight, Flight or Freeze (F3) response to stress and anxiety and to restore homeostatic nervous system functioning, allowing you to think clearly and experience calm,” says the company.
The wearable, as with all other modern devices, syncs with a smartphone app that can be used to control the device. The wearer can choose one of the 6 presets from the app, namely sleep, focus, craving, calm, performance, and anger, for particular needs.
The technology is undoubtedly phenomenal, and can possibly be scaled up, or at least offered to a relatively broad market considering that the firm is already running their 2nd campaign on Indiegogo. Non-invasive technology like this can be the answer to controlling, and dare we say, curing depression in the long run, and could possibly replace anti-stress oral and invasive medication for good.
