International Short Film and Independent Film festival is back again with its 14th installment for the Film-enthusiasts of Bangladesh. The festival was inaugurated in the capital’s Central Library premises on 3rd December. Spanning eight days, the festival will come to a close on the 10th of December. The biennale festival, hosted by the Bangladesh Short Film Forum (BSFF), has chosen “Free Film, Free Expression” as the theme this year. Among 2567 entries from 108 countries, over 500 films have made the cut for being showcased on this prestigious platform.
The festival aims at creating a platform for solidarity and better understanding among the independent short and documentary filmmakers from Asia and other part of the globe. It also serves the native audiences with opportunities to experience critically acclaimed films from various prestigious film festivals such as Oscar, Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival and others.
The films are available for viewing in six different venues in Dhaka. The venues are Shawkat Osman Hall at Central Public Library, Central Auditorium and Sufia Kamal Auditorium of National Museum, National Music and Dance Center Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Central Auditorium of Jagannath University and World Cultural Center, Bangladesh. Two venues in Rajshashi have also been selected for showcasing of the films from 3-6 December for the convenience of audiences outside of Dhaka.
With 28 years of remarkable reputation in the bag, 14th International Short Film and Independent Film Festival is worth a visit for those enamored with the art of films.
