Now get your Twitter account verified

Twitter is expanding its verified user base and has started accepting applications from those whose Twitter accounts are of public interest.

The verified badge  - a white tick mark on a blue badge - lets people know that the account is of public interest and authentic.

Until recently there was no means for an individual or organisation to get its account verified unless Twitter did it on its own.

But the social networking firm has announced a new move wherein it has requested those interested to get their account verified and authenticated to fill out a form.

Users however need to fill out a form providing information such as the account that needs to be verified along with a short bio and links of two other websites that can authenticate the user.

In order to be eligible the accounts should be maintained by public figures and organizations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.

The account should also have a verified phone number, a confirmed email address, a profile photo, a header photo and the date and year of birth (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organization account

"Our goal with this update is to help more people find great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for creators and influencers - no matter where they are in the world - to easily connect with a broader audience," the company said it a statement.

Those interested in getting their Twitter account verified can do by clicking on this link.
