Mobile phone operator Robi in partnership with US-based Yonder Music Inc has launched music app service for smart-phones.
The music service styled as ‘Robi Yonder Music Service’ is aimed at delivering a powerful new total-music experience. The initiative comes about a year after its rival Grameenphone launched a digital music platform called GP Music.
The service combines exclusive content from local artistes, and with the rich libraries of local labels, along with a comprehensive collection of international major label and independent music, according to a press release of Robi.
The Robi Yonder Music Service is free to users - no application charges, no subscription fees and no per-track download charges are applied. All Robi-Yonder Music app users will need to active Robi data plan on their mobile phones to access a vast library of digital music (and invitations to offline events) on any data network, even on Wi-Fi.
The Robi Yonder Music service respects and celebrates the Intellectual Property Rights of artistes and composers, who are paid in direct proportion to the number of times their content is played on the app.
At the programme, a group of musicians and band-members including Habib, Arnob, Bappa, Kona, Elita, Chirkutt, Nemesis, Balam, and Hridoy Khan also presented the platform’s theme song titled Bojre.
Among others, Adam Kidron, chief executive officer of Yonder Music Inc,, and Supun Weerasinghe, managing director and CEO of Robi, were present on the occasion.
