Introducing Prynt, a polaroid for the snapchat generation with instagrammy features that fits onto your smartphone like a case and prints out photos instantly without using any ink! Simply plug in your phone, snap a picture, and get a printed photo in seconds. Then watch your photos come to life through augmented reality.
Prynt, is in fact, a girthy phone case that charges via USB. It comes with 10 sheets of paper, which are refillable through the free Prynt app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play store. The case has a grip and a shutter button which makes it kind of like a camera, except that it needs to be fitted to an iPhone or selective android devices to function. Once the case is on and the app is installed, you can use it to take photos or videos, or print a photo already stored on your phone, or record a five-second video. How the app works is every time you take a snap, a small video file is also recorded along with that. Then, as you start printing, the image seems to slide out of the screen as the printer slowly pushes out paper. The augmented magic begins once the photo is physically printed. When you look down at the photo through your phone in the Prynt app, you'll see the video file play over the picture. It is a mix of digital and physical realm, the closest you can get to actually printing a Snapchat or Vine.
Well, with all that hype generated, its time to analyse the possibilities of a local user getting one within their reach.
