Grameenphone recently launched the ‘Most Affordable Smartphones’ campaign, in partnership with handset makers LAVA and Okapia, with the price tags for both the brands not exceeding Tk3000.
While launching the products in Dhaka on Monday, the mobile phone operator said their latest campaign aims to help increase smartphone users in Bangladesh, as well as bring the internet within reach to so many people who could not otherwise use smartphones because of their high price tags.
Grameenphone launched two types of smartphones - LAVA Iris 505 and Okapia Alo. LAVA Iris will be sold at Tk2,945 and the Okapia Alo at Tk2,595.
“Although Bangladesh has high-speed mobile Internet service, many still cannot use that due to lack of affordability to buy a smartphone,” said Yasir Azman, chief marketing officer of Grameenphone. “Currently, only 23% of the mobile phone users in Bangladesh have smartphones with access to the high-speed mobile phone Internet”, he added.
Garmeenphone said the customers will receive a number of value propositions from Grameenphone on the purchase of the handsets, which are the lowest priced 3G-enabled smartphones in the local market. The customers will also receive 7-Day Early Life Failure (ELF) benefit, under which, if they find any factory defects within 7 days then the smartphone will be replaced for the client.
The customers will also receive “exiting bundle of benefits to feel a total cost of ownership for free.” Both handsets will have 1-year warranty from respective manufacturers.
