Good news if you are an Apple user, soon your Facebook Timeline will be in 3D while the rest of the world stares back in awe.
Apple Inc. is said to have a special feature "3D Touch" added in order to allow their users a more modern experience. The basic feature is for the users to be able to preview profiles or links without having to navigate away from it. Instead of tapping or swiping, this new feature will allow users to hold on to items to preview content and then select it with a longer hold. It works on web links, profiles, pages, groups, events and photos.
"We are excited to start rolling out support for 3D Touch in our iOS app so people can quickly and easily peek into a preview of anything they are interested in on Facebook, and pop into that content to see more," says a Facebook spokesperson in an interview.
However, Apple only wishes to release this feature within a small group of people at first, then eventually it will be released to the masses.
This feature was initially named "peek and pop", after the way this feature functions. So the users simply "peek" at profiles or photos with a light press then press a little harder to "pop" into them to view.
Facebook is all for Apple users as it seems. They are also adding another "quick view" shortcut that pops up when you press down on its home screen icon. This icon takes users directly to their timeline. Facebook's app has been supporting 3D Touch since October 2015 with a few shortcuts for status updates and uploading photos.
But what has really got the Apple users agitated is that Facebook announced the new feature will be ready for the masses "over the coming months." while the “special” group of people already has access to it. Many media sites have taken to using the new Apple feature to give their business a boost. Instagram being one of the very first, to allow 3D enabled features for the new iPhone users.
