After weeks of rumors and leaked screenshots, Activision has finally announced that the new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan' will be released later this year.
PlatinumGames, popular for developing games like Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising and last year’s famous Transformers: Devastation, released the first official trailer for the game on the 25th of January, 2016.
The official description reads, “Battle alongside your brothers through the sewers, subways, and streets of NYC to take down Shredder and Krang's evil organization, Foot by Foot. Unleash custom combat skills and powerful team combos to save Manhattan from the overwhelming dark forces growing in the shadows.”
Set in New York City, the storyline follows Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael trying to protect the city from aliens, mutants and the despicable Foot Clan. Familiar villains like Bebop, Rocksteady and the Shredder will also make appearances along the way.
The game can be played offline or via a 4 player online co-op. The story has been penned by Tom Waltz, longtime author of the TMNT series and the art has been inspired from Mateus Santolouco's designs for the Heroes in Halfshells, as pointed out by Platinum's Robert Cooper on the PlayStation Blog.
With the highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows set to release this summer, this game’s release might tie with the movie this summer. The game will be available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
