Young entrepreneurs and start-ups are becoming increasingly popular; and while such business organizations do not follow traditional office norms, they do need a space where they can work, socialize, extend their networks, share ideas and grow, both professionally and intra-personally.
Most start-up entrepreneurs work out of their residences or cafes. While the former might not be professional enough, the latter is also not feasible, cost-wise. This dilemma could be solved through co-working spaces. These are places that are open to start-ups, freelancers and young entrepreneurs for working, holding meetings, seminars or even workshops.
Co-working spaces are functional working spaces with the comfort of a coffee shop alongwith the added benefits of high-speed internet, light refreshments and in most cases, an inspiring interior. These spaces are available for a fixed membership fee or entry fee.The concept of co-working spaces is no alien to the hundreds of budding entrepreneurs of Dhaka. A couple of such initiatives that have made quite the name are featured below:
While most other co-working spaces are available on hourly, daily or weekly basis, HubDhaka can be availed on a monthly basis. Opened in March 2014, this place is more suited for freelancers or young entrepreneurs who are in the intermediate phase of setting up their business and need a specific work place on a regular basis.
The space at HubDhaka comes with hi-speed internet facilities with backup connection, in-house multimedia system, multifunction printer (scanner, printer & copier) CCTV surveillance and lockers topped with bottomless coffee and other kitchen facilities. The seating arrangement is open, shared and can seat up to 70 people at any time.
Monthly membership fee at HubDhaka is BDT 3,500 and you can easily become a member by filling out an online membership form. A membership at HubDhaka also gives you free access to the meeting room for two hours per month and after that can be availed at 10% discounted rate. Other than that, a membership also provides 10% discount if you want to rent the place for events, and a 25% discount on the events that are held at HubDhaka every now and then.
HubDhaka remains open from 10am-8pm on weekdays and also on Saturdays, upon approval.
This relatively new co-working space is becoming increasingly popular. Operational since July 2015, Moar is ideal for start-ups, freelancers, young entrepreneurs. With a great view and cozy working environment, Moar offers good internet connectivity, tele-conferencing facilities and light snacks that keep coming; Moar provides an ambience that is just right to get all the creative juices flowing.
Moar is capacitated to hold 25 individuals at any given time and they also have two meeting rooms that can hold upto 20 people; if a seminar is on your mind, Moar can accommodate 50-80 people.
To work at Moar, all you need to do is walk in with your laptop, pick a package that works for you, pay and start working. You can either pick the hourly package or the daily package with the option of working in an open space or closed quarters.
On an hourly basis, in the open space, you can work for BDT 150/hour and BDT 400/3 hours. If you are meeting up with a friend or a client, the open space will cost you BDT 400 for an hour and BDT 1000 for three hours. If you want complete silence when you work, it will cost you BDT 250 per hour and BDT 600 for three hours. If you want to work on a regular basis, the daily plan will cost you BDT 600 per day. Moar also provides weekly and monthly packages, depending on availability.
