For chocoholics who do not mind spending a ‘little’ extra for some added bling, Nestle Australia has launched 24-karat gold Kit Kat bars on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.
This special stock of Kit Kat gold bars feature "Phoenix Oolong" tea leaves from the Guangdong Province of China, combined with lychee and rose petals, milk chocolate and wafers. The bars will be wrapped in 24k gold leaves topped with rose petals and jelly.
The gold bars will go on sale on this Thursday, 28 January at 8am for a hefty sum of AUS $88 each and only 88 of these bars will be available for sale at the Kit Kat Studio in Melbourne. The number 8 is symbolic of good fortune and wealth in China so this gold bar might just bring you some good fortune in exchange for emptying your wallet.
The studio will also introduce four special flavours in this occasion - Tangerine Crème Brûlée, Taro and Black Sesame, Red Bean and Toasted Coconut, and Almond Cookie. However these will be available at a much more reasonable price of $6 each.
Point to be noted that, this is not the first time that the brand has introduced gold into its chocolates. Last year, Nestle Japan launched a limited edition Chocolatory Sublime Gold, a one bar gold wrapped Kit Kat sold at USD 22 for one bar. Only 500 of these were produced and sold over 8 outlets in Japan in celebration of reaching 1 million visitors to Nestle Japan’s Chocolatory stores.
