In the realm of art, the name Kalidas Karmakar needs no introduction.
A celebrated artist since August 1976, Kalidas is known for his use of unconventional materials and media in his works. Each and every artwork by the artist is followed by a unique philosophical idea which is translated onto canvas or reality by means of etching and mixed media technique.
Hosted by Bangladesh National Museum, the 72nd solo art exhibition of this celebrated artist titled “Alluvial Soul.Soil.Symbol” is being held at the Nalinikanta Bhattasali Gallery. The exhibition was inaugurated by Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, Hon'ble Minister for Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh Government on 03 January, 2016. Professor Emeritus Dr. Anisuzzaman and President of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute Mr. Farooq Sobhan were present as the special guests.

The exhibition showcases 52 paintings in acrylic and mixed media, along with 2 installation art and a video presentation titled Alluvial Journey on the artist himself. The exhibition will be open for all till January 24, 2016, daily from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm and on Fridays, between 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The gallery remains closed on Thursdays.
