For the Bangladeshi music lovers, 2016 could not be any more exciting. As the new year tided over, 90’s legendary band Winning graced their fans with the launch of a brand new album 'Bohu Durey' yesterday at the Bengal Lounge, Dhaka Club Limited.
'Bohu Durey' has 12 tracks in total, celebrating the power of love, romance and nature. Except a few, most of the tracks are written and composed by the band members themselves.
Band members Zaman Ali Chandan (Vocal & Guitar), Mohammad Shamsun Noor Ranjan (Vocals & Drums), S.M. Moshiur Rahman Shelly (Bass) and Biplob Ashraf (Keyboard) along with their Band Manager Shujon Mahabub were present at the launching ceremony. Celebrated senior musicians Tapan Chowdhury, Fuad Nasser Babu, Labu Rahman, Ashiquzzaman Tulu, Labib Mahmood and many others were also present. Hosted by Naveed Mahbub, the band members reminisced their golden days and enticed the audience in narrating how the present album came to being after a long 20 year hiatus.
About the namesake of the album, Mohammmad Shamsun Noor Ranjan said, “Today marks the 33rd anniversary of our band. We have all come a long way through this journey, being apart from our friends, our motherland and mostly from our own music...The name of the album is to reflect the very notion of our longing Bohu Durey."
Vocal & Guitarist, Zaman Ali Chandan reflected on their recording experiences of the albm, “We’ve had to come back and forth to Dhaka a few times just for the album. Besides other responsibilities, mixing and mastering had already been finished in Canada’s One Phrase Studio”. The band does not have any plans for concerts in the coming times added Chandan.

Despite being away for almost two decades, singer Tapan Chowdhury believes the band to be a heartwinner of the home based music enthusiasts. “To see all our loved ones together once again is the greatest gift of all. We may have come a long way in enhancing the music industry but we are not yet done," added Tapan.
Speaking on the credibility of the music industry in Bangladesh, Manzurur Rahman, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Bangladesh said, “Bangladesh Government is working to strenghthen the Intellectual Property scenario in the country. Provided the citizens as well as the artists come together in retaining the due rights, our efforts will be definitely successful.”
Winning launched their previous two albums “Winning” and “Ochena Shohor” in 1991 and 1995 respectively. Their latest one - Bohu Durey is launched by More Than Words, a new independent creative agency. The launching has been done in collaboration with Bellissimo, the offical sponsor. Nahid Hossain, spokesperson for More than Words, has stated that they are particularly excited to launch this legendary band's album as their maiden production. It was futher stated that the physical CD's will be available to customers upon purchase of Bellissimo icecream from selected supershops from the second week of January 2016.
