The patent itself is only filed for the gaming controller or just its model form. The actual hardware configuration is yet to be decided upon, however documentation shows that the designs are quite similar to that of the original Wii U with a smart-phone style approach.
The patent refers to a device in the form of a gaming controller that consists nothing but only 4 components- two analogue control sticks and two shoulder buttons. The device also comes with a built in speaker. The elliptical screen serves the purpose of any o task by forming a virtual functioning mode.
According to the patent, the screen also acts as a "guide image" and "help mode," whereby helping players to function the device. This elliptical touch screen takes up almost the device’s entire surface. Nintendo could possibly turn out to incorporate other controllers on the touch screen as well as it remains fully customizable. Only time will tell.
The distinct design by Nintendo is set to sustain their claim of, how playing with the new touch screen controller helps to heighten a player's “sense of immersion”. This claim is reinforced by graphical displays such as sparks shooting out or other form of animated graphics whenever thumbs touch the pads.
Nintendo is highly driven by imagination and creativity that fuels its innovations. They believe that using a controller sized touch screen accentuates the experience of having the gaming power at fingertips as well as all the contexts, menus, virtual television and other forms of secondary-screen options simply available at the touch of a finger.
Rumors are flying about how Nintendo is set to release the console at the beginning of the next fiscal year.
